Chelsea will be looking to record their seventh straight victory in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League when they face struggling Birmingham City at Kingsmeadow this afternoon.
Emma Hayes’ side have won every league fixture since being defeated 3-2 by Arsenal on opening day and victory this afternoon against a managerless Birmingham City side is almost certainly expected.
Chelsea go into the match without defender Aniek Nouwen and forward Pernille Harder. The pair face a couple more weeks on the sidelines but both players are expected to be fit for the 2020/2021 Vitality Women’s FA Cup final. Maren Mjelde made her first start since her comeback from injury against Servette FCCF in midweek and is available for further minutes while Lauren James will also be looking to add to her cameo appearance.
Birmingham City arrive at Kingsmeadow under the guidance of caretaker boss Tony Elliott. Former Chelsea defender Arabella Suttie is unable to face her former club with the player sidelined for the season. The Blues lined-up for their FA Women’s Continental League Cup fixture against West Ham United in midweek with no other injuries and that could again be the case this afternoon.
