‘We need to look at the positives’ – Arsenal pleased with overall picture says Little

Arsenal midfielder Kim Little says that the club are pleased with the overall picture so far this season, even though they have suffered heavy back-to-back defeats over the last five days.

The Gunners are top of the Barclays FA Women’s Super League table and are on the verge of reaching the UEFA Women’s Champions League quarter-finals but Jonas Eidevall’s side were defeated 3-0 by Chelsea in the Vitality Women’s FA Cup final on Sunday and they were thumped 4-0 by FC Barcelona in Europe this evening.

When speaking to the media after this evening’s game, Arsenal midfielder Little said that the journey under new head coach Eidevall has only just begun and that the club are pleased with their overall start to the season despite this week’s results.

“We have had four or five months with Jonas now,” Little said. “We have had so many games that you can’t necessarily go back to the drawing board.

“I think if you look at the overall picture, we are pleased with the position that we are in now with the league and within the Champions League. We need to look at the positives and where we have come in that time. We also very much ought to look at the things that we need to improve on as well.”

Reflecting on this evening’s game against Barcelona, Little said that there were some signs of improvement from the reverse fixture two months’ ago but The Gunners still have a lot to work on.

She said “It is hard to reflect straight after the game but obviously, we are disappointed that we conceded four goals and lost at home.

“Barcelona are the best team right now and are very hard to play against. I think there were a lot of things that were better for us today than in our previous game against them but there were still a lot of things that weren’t good enough. We really need to go away from this performance again like the last one and look at what those areas are.”

Arsenal are back in action on Sunday evening when Leicester City are the visitors to Meadow Park in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League.
