Bristol City’s Vitality Women’s FA Cup fixture at Southampton switched to St Mary’s

Bristol City’s Vitality Women’s FA Cup fourth round tie at Southampton will be played at St Mary’s Stadium.

The Robins’ have been rewarded with a trip to the South Coast in the fourth round after defeating Lewes 5-0 at The Robins’ High Performance Centre in the third round earlier this month.

The tie against Southampton was initially set to take place at Snows Stadium, home of AFC Totton, but The Saints have today confirmed that the game will instead be played at St Mary’s Stadium.

Southampton’s previous appearance at their traditional home came back in January 2020 when they were defeated 4-1 by second tier club Coventry United in the fourth round of the Vitality Women’s FA Cup. That fixture attracted a crowd of 4,510 and remains Southampton’s only previous appearance at St Mary’s Stadium.

Bristol City will be hoping to find a way beyond Southampton to reach the fifth round of this season’s Vitality Women’s FA Cup, however, The Saints will be no easy opponents for the FA Women’s Championship club. Southampton go into the Christmas break having won each of their last five games in all competitions, scoring 20 goals.

The Vitality Women’s FA Cup fourth round tie between Southampton and Bristol City takes place at St Mary’s Stadium on Sunday 30 January 2022. Tickets will be priced at £3 for adults while juniors and concessions will be admitted free of charge.
