Arsenal defender Anna Patten has joined the club’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League rivals Aston Villa on a loan deal for the remainder of the season.
The 22-year-old has started just one Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture for The Gunners this season and she will now get some vital game time under her belt whilst on loan at Aston Villa.
The Villans confirmed the loan arrangement earlier this afternoon via a post on their official club website.
Patten joined Arsenal as a 12-year-old and she went on to twice lift the FA Youth Cup with The Gunners. She made her senior debut for the club as an 18-year-old in 2017. The defender left Arsenal later that year to play and study in the United States. She represented the Florida State Seminoles and the South Carolina Gamecocks during her time Stateside.
In last season’s winter transfer window, Patten rejoined Arsenal. She has gone on to make 11 appearances for The Gunners in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League.
After completing her first deal of the transfer window, Aston Villa boss Carla Ward said “Anna is a key signing for us and will bring both quality and experience to the team.
“She is a young English player with huge potential and we believe this is a great chance for her to continue her development.”
Patten could make her Aston Villa debut against Everton at The Banks’s Stadium on Saturday.
