PREVIEW: Brighton & Hove Albion v Manchester City

Brighton & Hove Albion and Manchester City will both hope to make positive starts to the New Year when the pair contest their opening Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture of 2022 at The People’s Pension Stadium on Sunday.

The Seagulls enjoyed their most successful year as a professional team in 2021 while Manchester City’s year was one of two halves with an excellent first half of the year being followed by a difficult second half.

Brighton & Hove Albion manager Hope Powell has confirmed that those players who were self-isolating for the postponed Arsenal fixture last month are now available for selection. The Seagulls also had several injuries prior to the Christmas break and while some players have now recovered, a couple are still carrying niggles. New signings Emma Kullberg and Julia Zigiotti Olme could be set to make their debuts.

Manchester City head coach Gareth Taylor will welcome Lucy Bronze back to the side following a lengthy absence while captain Steph Houghton is back in training and could be in contention. Ellie Roebuck, Esme Morgan and Chloe Kelly remain sidelined.

The Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture between Brighton & Hove Albion and Manchester City kicks-off at 12pm on Sunday afternoon. Tickets can be purchased by clicking here.
