Brighton & Hove Albion pair Longhurst and Cordier join Lewes on dual-registration terms

Brighton & Hove Albion’s academy pair Josie Longhurst and Léa Cordier have joined FA Women’s Championship club Lewes on a dual-registration basis.

Cordier made her senior debut for The Seagulls in this season’s FA Women’s Continental League Cup while fellow midfielder Longhurst is yet to be handed a first team appearance by manager Hope Powell.

Both players have been regular performers for Brighton & Hove Albion’s WSL Academy League side. Longhurst has made six appearances in the 2021/2022 WSL Academy League while Cordier has had four outings and has scored one goal, her appearances with the Under-21s having been limited due to her first team involvement.

On the international stage, both players have represented their respective nations up to and including Under-19 level. Longhurst is a Welsh international while Cordier represents Belgium.

Longhurst and Cordier could go straight into the Lewes squad for their FA Women’s Championship fixture against Sunderland at The Dripping Pan tomorrow. The fixture is Lewes’ first at home in more than two months in the league. The Rookettes can put some pressure on the top six with a win while Sunderland have the incentive of moving to within a point of their opponents with an awayday victory.
