PREVIEW: Manchester United v Tottenham Hotspur

Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur resume the battle for third place in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League when the pair meet at The Leigh Sports Village on Sunday.

Both teams are tied on 21 points from their first 11 league games, however, Manchester United currently sit third courtesy of a better goal difference.

Manchester United head coach Marc Skinner has confirmed that Dutch international midfielder Jackie Groenen is fit and was just rested against Arsenal in midweek. Forward Kirsty Hanson picked up an ankle injury in that game and while it is nothing serious, the Scot is likely to miss the Spurs game. Martha Harris and Lucy Staniforth will not be available for selection with the pair continuing to recover from knocks.

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Rehanne Skinner will again be without Kyah Simon, Tang Jiali and Ch So-hyun with the trio all currently away on international duty with their respective nations at the AFC Women’s Asian Cup India 2022. Forward Kit Graham remains sidelined with a long term injury while some other players are struggling with knocks. Spurs boss Skinner confirmed in her pre-match press conference that squad numbers will be at their lowest levels so far this season for the Manchester United game.

The Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture between Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur kicks-off at 12pm on Sunday. Tickets for the match can be purchased by clicking here.
