Lewes begin process of recruiting a new manager

FA Women’s Championship club Lewes have opened the application process for appointing their next permanent manager.

The Rookettes recorded their highest-ever league finish in 2020/2021 under former boss Simon Parker. While Lewes carried some of that momentum into the current campaign, Parker left his role by mutual consent in October after 21 months at the helm at The Dripping Pan.

The club swiftly appointed Craig Gill into an interim first team manager role and Lewes have now announced their intentions to appoint a permanent successor to former boss Parker to begin work at the end of the current season.

Consistency has been the biggest issue for Lewes this season. The Rookettes have won six, lost six and drawn one of their 13 FA Women’s Championship games. That unpredictable form has continued under interim boss Gill with Lewes winning four and losing four of his eight league matches in charge. Lewes’ victories under Gill have been impressive with the Sussex club recording an emphatic 4-1 win over Coventry United at The Dripping Pan and also beating tough opposition in the form of Charlton Athletic and Sunderland on home soil. On the road, The Rookettes also won 3-1 at Sheffield United in November.

Lewes are currently in seventh place in the FA Women’s Championship table after 13 games. A little more consistency in their final nine games could see them record another top half finish.
