The potential destination of this season’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League title could become a little more clear on Friday evening when Chelsea meet Arsenal at Kingsmeadow.
It is Jonas Eidevall’s Arsenal side who currently top the table while London rivals Chelsea are their nearest challengers two points behind in second place. The Blues also have the luxury of a game in hand over The Gunners.
Chelsea manager Emma Hayes will have South Korean international midfielder Ji So-yun back in the squad following her side’s exploits at the AFC Women’s Asian Cup India 2022. The Blues remain thin on the ground with Magda Eriksson, Maren Mjelde, Melanie Leupolz and Beth England still out.
When speaking in his pre-match press conference on Wednesday, Arsenal head coach Jonas Eidevall was unable to confirm whether defender Leah Williamson and forward Tobin Heath will be fit to feature in the match at Kingsmeadow, although he maintains high hopes for the pair. Centre-back Lotte Wubben-Moy has been ruled out with an injury.
The Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture between Chelsea and Arsenal is scheduled to kick-off at 7.45pm on Friday evening. The game is a sell-out therefore no tickets will be available at Kingsmeadow on the night.
