PREVIEW: England v Germany

England will be hoping to lift the Arnold Clark Cup as well as getting one over on old foes Germany in the process when the pair contest their final tournament fixture in Wolverhampton this evening.

The Lionesses are currently level on points with Spain but both sides are two points adrift of Canada who are the tournament leaders going into the final round of games. Canada face Spain in the first game of the day and providing that Bev Priestman’s side do not win that match, England will have a chance of lifting the Arnold Clark Cup themselves.

England boss Sarina Wiegman is thought to have a full squad of players available to her for this evening’s match. She is expected to make changes to the side which drew 0-0 with Spain in Norwich on Sunday but she has not confirmed whether Manchester City goalkeeper Ellie Roebuck will be one of those players to come in. Roebuck is one of just two England players yet to be fielded in the tournament. Millie Bright, Leah Williamson, Fran Kirby, Ella Toone and Lauren Hemp are amongst those players who are likely to be recalled.

Germany head coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg could also make changes to her line-up following Sunday’s 1-0 defeat to Canada. Goalkeeper Merle Frohms is likely to return while Maximiliane Rall, Linda Dallmann, Sara Däbritz and Lea Schüller could also make the starting XI. Defender Lena Oberdorf is unlikely to be risked with the player suffering from a knee injury.

The Arnold Clark Cup fixture between England and Germany at Molineux kicks-off at 7.30pm.
