‘You want to play against the best’ – Chelsea’s Bright previews England’s clash with Germany

Chelsea defender Millie Bright says that this evening’s Arnold Clark Cup match between England and Germany is a game that players always want to be a part of.

The two rivals meet at Molineux in Wolverhampton as the tournament reaches its climax. Germany cannot win the tournament, however, England may lift the trophy depending on their result combined with the one recorded in the early game between Spain and Canada.

When speaking in the pre-match press conference, defender Bright said that games between England and Germany are ones that players always aspire to play in.

“Listen, these are the games that we play for,” Bright said when speaking in the pre-match press conference. “We want to play against the best, on big stages with lots of fans there.

“We remain focused on our game plan. This tournament has been about developing as a squad on our new journey and performing to our best levels. That is our mentality going into this game.”

The Arnold Clark Cup is in the first year of an initial four-year deal. While the tournament is very much a work-in-progress, Bright went on to say that she feels that it has been a great success so far.

She said “It has been brilliant. All of the girls were really excited coming into this tournament, especially with it being in England and us being able to get fans into the stadiums around the country.

“It has been really exciting and I think it has been really successful. We love playing against top teams and being challenged.”

The final Arnold Clark Cup match between England and Germany kicks-off at 7.30pm.
