Arsenal will hope to extend their lead at the top of the Barclays FA Women’s Super League table to five points when they take on Reading at the LV Bet Stadium on Wednesday evening.
The Gunners are currently two points clear of second-placed Chelsea but Jonas Eidevall’s side have played a game more. While The Blues will soon have two games in-hand on Arsenal, having points on the board is what matters at this stage of the season.
Arsenal head coach Eidevall is hopeful that defenders Lotte Wubben-Moy and Laura Wienroither will be available for the Reading game while forward Beth Mead is likely to also return. The trio’s availability is subject to them successfully completing a final training session. Eidevall is likely to bring Manuela Zinsberger, Stina Blackstenius and Vivianne Miedema back in after the trio dropped to the bench against Liverpool in the Vitality Women’s FA Cup on Sunday.
Reading arrive in Boreham Wood having lost their last two matches. Manager Kelly Chambers will not be overly concerned by her side’s loss of form but she could make changes, particularly given the fact that The Royals were subjected to extra-time in Sunday’s Vitality Women’s FA Cup fifth round tie against West Ham United. Justine Vanhaevermaet, Chloe Peplow and Rachel Rowe are those players most likely to be recalled. Reading remain without Brooke Chaplen who could be sidelined for some time.
The Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture between Arsenal and Reading kicks-off at 7.15pm on Wednesday evening.
