Knee injury ends season of Coventry United midfielder Wilcox

Coventry United midfielder Anna Wilcox will play no further part in the club’s battle against relegation with the player having sustained a knee injury.

Wilcox featured for The Red and Greens in their 1-0 FA Women’s Championship victory over Crystal Palace at Hayes Lane last weekend but she lasted just 19 minutes of the match before having to be replaced by Olivia Fergusson.

The midfielder has provided an update on her injury earlier today via her personal Twitter account but it is a case of bad news with Wilcox having sustained a knee injury which has brought her season to a premature end.

Wilcox is in her second spell with Coventry United after rejoining the club from third tier side West Bromwich Albion in 2020. The player signed her first professional deal with The Red and Greens in January 2021 and was the first player to be retained by Coventry United for the current season.

The midfielder has made 22 appearances for Coventry United in the FA Women’s Championship while she netted her only league goal for the club in a 1-1 draw with London Bees last season.

Wilcox will now undergo a period of rehabilitation with the support of the Coventry United medical staff.
