‘More to gain and less to lose’ – Brighton looking forward to Arsenal game says Powell

Brighton & Hove Albion manager Hope Powell says that her side can take complete heart from last weekend’s victory at Aston Villa and that The Seagulls have nothing to lose against Arsenal on Sunday.

Maya Le Tissier’s goal settled last weekend’s contest against Villa and Brighton & Hove Albion’s attentions now turn towards their next match against Arsenal, a side who they have always struggled against.

When speaking ahead of the match, Brighton & Hove Albion manager Powell said that her side have plenty to gain and little to lose this weekend.

“We know it is going to be tough, we know that they are a very, very good side,” Powell said when speaking in the pre-match press conference. “They’ve got immense depth of international talent and experience. They are a good side and we know that they will make it very difficult for us.

“That being said, we can take absolute heart from our previous game and we’ve got more to gain and less to lose. We go into the game looking forward to it.”

Arsenal will undoubtedly enjoy more of the possession this weekend and Powell went on to say that her side need to do the off the ball basics well.

She said “We know that the game is going to be tough but when they have the ball, you’ve got to do this (be organised off the ball) because if you don’t you will be punished.

“It’ll be very tough but we need to go back to basics, do the basics well and that gives us the best possible chance. That’s what you must do and that’s what we will do.”

Brighton & Hove Albion’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture against Arsenal kicks-off at 6.45pm on Sunday evening.
