‘They don’t make it easy for you’ – Manchester City boss Taylor aware of Reading threats

Manchester City head coach Gareth Taylor says that he is well-aware of the threats which this evening’s opponents Reading could pose.

The Cityzens face The Royals in a rearranged Barclays FA Women’s Super League match at The Academy Stadium.

Reading have enjoyed another impressive season under the guidance of manager Kelly Chambers and offer a unique challenge given their physical attributes. When speaking in his pre-match press conference, Manchester City boss Taylor said that he is prepared for what his side could face this evening.

“They try to play from the back at times but they are not afraid to go direct either,” Taylor said. “They’ve got good pace at the top end of the pitch and they try to cause you problems, they don’t make it easy for you and we have seen that they have caused other teams problems throughout the season.

“We are yet to play them, we will play them twice in a short space of time, they are obviously a real tough opponent to play against.”

Manchester City will play at The Academy Stadium for the first time in more than a month this evening and Taylor admits that it feels good to return to home soil.

He said “It is familiar surroundings. We have a great away record but I think it is good to have a run of games at home now to get some familiarity, get back to the stadium in a couple of competitions.

“I’m looking forward to it, I’m looking forward to getting back with our supporters behind us on a home setting as it seems like we  have been on the road for a little bit now. I am looking forward to that and just making the most of it using that advantage that we have.”

Manchester City’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture against Reading kicks-off at 7pm this evening.
