PREVIEW: Leicester City v Arsenal

Leicester City will be hoping to erase memories of last weekend’s heavy defeat to Chelsea when they face Arsenal in their latest Barclays FA Women’s Super League match at The King Power Stadium on Sunday.

The Foxes lost 9-0 to the reigning Barclays FA Women’s Super League champions and Lydia Bedford’s side will have had to learn some harsh lessons very quickly with second-place Arsenal up next.

The Leicester City squad continues to be hit by ongoing injuries. Manager Bedford will again be without long term absentees Kirstie Levell, Hannah Cain, Lachante Paul and Jess Sigsworth for her side’s clash with The Gunners. Defender Ashleigh Plumptre and midfielder Molly Pike are doubtful while Abbie McManus is out.

Arsenal head coach Jonas Eidevall will welcome midfielder Lia Walti back into the squad after the player missed the 2-0 defeat to VfL Wolfsburg in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Women’s Champions League in midweek. Rafaelle Souza and Mana Iwabuchi both also missed that match and are rated doubtful for the trip to the East Midlands. Australian international Caitlin Foord is thought to have come through Wednesday’s game without any further complications.

The Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture between Leicester City and Arsenal is scheduled to kick-off at 12.30pm on Sunday afternoon.
