Everton appoint Danish coach Sørensen as new manager

Danish coach Brian Sørensen has been appointed the new manager of Everton.

The 41-year-old, who is currently the head coach at Danish club Fortuna Hjørring, will officially take charge at Walton Hall Park in the summer and will prepare The Blue Girls for the 2022/2023 season. Sørensen has signed an initial two-year deal on Merseyside.

Everton informed FAWSL Full-Time of the appointment via an official club press release this morning.

Sørensen has spent his entire coaching career to date working in his native Denmark. He has enjoyed two spells in charge at Fortuna Hjørring while he has also had time as head coach of IK Skovbakken and FC Nordsjælland. With Everton boasting a number of highly-rated Scandinavian talents in their ranks, the club will be hopeful that they have appointed a manager who can bring the very best out of the squad.

After being appointed Everton manager, Sørensen said “I’m extremely excited to join Everton. It is one of the historic clubs in women’s football and our backgrounds fit nicely, with common values, work ethic and ambitions.

“Having studied the squad in depth during this process, I feel there is massive potential, with players capable of making an impact on the biggest stages.

“I’m very thankful to Fortuna Hjorring for our journey together and their support for this opportunity – and I now look forward to meeting with the Everton staff and players next week on Merseyside and getting to work on preparations for next season.”

Chris Roberts and Claire Ditchburn will continue to oversee first team matters until the end of the current campaign.
