Arsenal and Chelsea will battle it out for the right to feature in a second consecutive Vitality Women’s FA Cup final when the pair contest their semi-final tie at the LV Bet Stadium in Boreham Wood on Sunday afternoon.
The two clubs faced-off the 2020/2021 final at Wembley Stadium back in December. On that occasion, Chelsea were 3-0 winners thanks to a goal from Fran Kirby and a brace from Sam Kerr.
Arsenal go into Sunday’s semi-final tie in good shape with head coach Jonas Eidevall having confirmed that he has no new injury concerns to contend with. Defenders Lotte Wubben-Moy and Rafaelle Souza are expected to be fit following their recent injuries, as is forward Mana Iwabuchi. Eidevall will have some difficult team selection decisions to make given the anticipated availability of his squad.
Chelsea manager Emma Hayes has provided an update on the fitness of forward Fran Kirby. The player will be out for an indefinite period as she looks to overcome a mystery illness. Fellow attacker Pernille Harder will be available for selection this weekend while Hayes has been assessing the remainder of her players who have been away on international duty earlier today.
The Vitality Women’s FA Cup semi-final between Arsenal and Chelsea kicks-off at 12.30pm on Sunday afternoon. The match is a sellout but it is being broadcast live on BBC Two.
