Arsenal v Chelsea – Stat Attack

Arsenal and Chelsea will be aiming for Wembley when they contest their Vitality Women’s FA Cup semi-final tie at the LV Bet Stadium in Boreham Wood this afternoon.

The Gunners are the competition’s most successful club with 14 trophy wins while Chelsea are climbing the all-time rankings with five final appearances, including three victories.

Ahead of this afternoon’s meeting, FAWSL Full-Time have been looking at the statistics surrounding the game. Here are four facts which relate to Arsenal’s semi-final tie against Chelsea.

Chelsea have the better overall record

The two clubs have met on 33 occasions. Chelsea have won 15 of those matches, Arsenal have won 12 while there have been just six draws. Arsenal have won the last two meetings on their home turf, both of those matches having been played at the Emirates Stadium.

The Blues have tightened up against The Gunners

After conceding five goals in two games against Arsenal last autumn, Chelsea have kept back-to-back clean sheets against The Gunners. Emma Hayes’ side won 3-0 in the 2020/2021 Vitality Women’s FA Cup final at Wembley in December before the two sides played out a goalless draw in the league at Kingsmeadow in February.

Goals are the norm

In 27 of the 33 meetings between the two sides, there have been two or more goals scored. Going further than that, in 18 of the 33 matches between the two sides, both teams have found the back of the net. History suggests that a second consecutive goalless draw is highly unlikely.

Three in three for Harder

Chelsea forward Pernille Harder has scored three goals in her last three Barclays FA Women’s Super League matches against Arsenal. Blues boss Emma Hayes has confirmed that the player is fit to feature against The Gunners at the LV Bet Stadium in Boreham Wood this afternoon.

The Vitality Women’s FA Cup semi-final tie between Arsenal and Chelsea kicks-off at 12.30pm this afternoon
