Chelsea will be hoping to edge closer to the Barclays FA Women’s Super League title when they travel to The Hive to face Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
The Blues currently have a one-point advantage at the summit, although they arguably have a tougher run-in than second-placed Arsenal.
Ahead of this weekend’s fixture at Tottenham Hotspur, FAWSL Full-Time have been analysing the match statistics provided by Opta. Here are four facts which relate to Chelsea’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League match against Spurs at The Hive.
Spurs aiming to end final losing record
Spurs have ended some losing records this season after taking points off the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United. Chelsea are the only remaining side that The Lilywhites have faced without picking up a single point in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League.
Spurs not in great derby form
Spurs are winless in six Barclays FA Women’s Super League London derby matches (D2 L4) since a 1-0 away win against West Ham United back in January 2021. One of Chelsea’s two defeats this season has come in a London derby with The Blues going down 3-2 at Arsenal on opening day.
Chelsea have scored more early goals than Spurs have scored in total
Chelsea have scored more goals in the opening 30 minutes of Barclays FA Women’s Super League matches (20) than Spurs have scored in total (19). The North Londoners have also scored the fewest goals in the first 30 minutes of matches (2). It should be noted that Chelsea and Spurs have conceded the joint-fewest goals in that period in Barclays FA Women’s Super League games this season (2).
Scoring first is a tough ask for Spurs
Chelsea have only fallen behind in two of their 18 Barclays FA Women’s Super League matches this season and have trailed for the fewest minutes of any side (157 minutes), with 86 of those minutes coming in their 1-0 defeat against Reading at the Select Car Leasing Stadium in December.
The Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture between Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea kicks-off at 2.30pm on Sunday afternoon.
