Tottenham Hotspur defender Shelina Zadorsky has taken up the option of an additional year on her contract.
The 29-year-old Canadian international is coming towards the end of her second season with Spurs. She signed a one-year contract last summer with the option of a further year.
Zadorsky spoke to FAWSL Full-Time this afternoon and when asked about whether she would be staying on at Spurs beyond the end of her initial one-year deal, she replied “Yes, that is the plan. Come On You Spurs!”
Spurs have this evening confirmed that the player has signed that one-year contract extension via a report on their official club website.
Following the club’s official announcement, Zadorsky said “Working with a Club that wants to keep building a winning culture is so exciting to me.
“Working with Rehanne and the rest of our staff has made me a better player and I want to keep growing. It’s a huge honour to play for the Club.”
The defender has made 37 appearances for Spurs in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League in her two seasons with the North Londoners. She scored her only league goal in February’s 4-0 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion at The Hive. Zadorsky has played an instrumental role in the rise of the Spurs team this season and news of her contract extension will delight the club’s fans.
In addition to Zadorsky, Spurs have agreed contract extensions with head coach Rehanne Skinner, defender Ashleigh Neville and forward Kit Graham while further contract agreements are expected to soon be announced by the club.
