Arsenal head coach Jonas Eidevall says that his side must go into this afternoon’s fixture against Aston Villa with the right attitude if they are to break down Carla Ward’s resilient side.
The Villans arrive at the LV Bet Stadium in Boreham Wood on the back of some of their best results and performances of the entire season. Aston Villa defeated Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 in their last away fixture while they held Manchester United to a goalless draw last weekend.
When speaking in his pre-match press conference, Arsenal boss Eidevall said that he is expecting a difficult game against Aston Villa and that his side must have the right attitude if they are going to break down the visitors’ stubborn defence.
“Their recent results show that they are a resilient side,” Eidevall said. “They have prevented some top teams from scoring many goals, you saw that against Tottenham, Chelsea and Manchester United.
“They look very solid defensively so for us, we need to be very good in our attack and we need to go into this game with the right attitude then hopefully, we will get a good result.”
Regardless of whether Arsenal win the Barclays FA Women’s Super League title or not this season, head coach Eidevall went on to say that he sees so much more room for growth at the club.
He said “I love being part of the title race and being a part of matches that matter to the top position in the league. That is always the ambition and my motivation. Our results so far are a product of all of the hard work that people are doing.
“What I really like is that on one hand, we are in the title race and we want to win the next game against Aston Villa but on the other hand, I see so many things that we can still develop as a team and as a staff group. That gives me a real deep sense of motivation saying that.
“If we can challenge for the title this year, that’s great but I am sure that this is an Arsenal side that will keep growing and growing in the seasons to come.”
Arsenal’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture against Aston Villa kicks-off at 2.15pm.
