Durham complete signing of former Sheffield United defender Robert

Durham have completed the signing of former Sheffield United defender Georgia Robert on a free transfer.

FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from Durham this afternoon.

Robert joins the club following the expiry of her contract at former side Sheffield United. The defender spent one season with The Blades in which she featured in 20 of their 22 games in the Barclays Women’s Championship. Robert also provided a threat in the opposition box for Sheffield United with the player scoring two goals.

The centre-back will be hoping to carry her good form over to her new club Durham.

After joining The Wildcats, Robert said “It’s incredible, I’m buzzing to be here.

“Durham are one of those teams who have always been at the top and I’d say they’re a powerhouse team in the league and in the North.

“They’re a team you always worry about playing because you know it will be a battle – so I’m looking forward to being part of that team.

“Being a full-time footballer is something I’ve always dreamed of growing up, and it was something I was always told I couldn’t do.

“To be able to do it now is just amazing and I’m really excited.”

Robert becomes Durham’s first signing of the summer transfer window.
