Leicester City have completed the signing of former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Josie Green according to reports on The Foxes’ official club website.
The 29-year-old moves to The King Power Stadium on a free transfer after leaving former club Spurs at the end of last season.
Green was on Spurs’ books for six years, helping the club into the elite game before winning promotion to the Barclays Women’s Super League with the North Londoners in 2019. The midfielder clocked up 39 appearances for The Lilywhites in three seasons in the top flight.
After completing her move to Leicester City, Green said “It’s really exciting to meet the girls and join the team. It’s a really exciting club to be a part of, so I’m looking forward to it. I’m ready for a new challenge.”
Green has become Leicester City manager Lydia Bedford’s first signing of the summer transfer window. Bedford herself signed a contract with Leicester City this week, agreeing to remain as first team manager for the long term. Her commitment to the club was likely to signal the start of the summer transfer activity and after the addition of Green, that would seem so.
Leicester City ended their first top flight season in 2021/2022 in 11th place.
