Arsenal defender Wubben-Moy leaves England camp after positive COVID-19 test

Arsenal defender Lotte Wubben-Moy has left the England squad after testing positive for COVID-19.

FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news last night via an update from The Football Association.

The 23-year-old will spend the coming days recovering at home. England will monitor her health regularly with a view to bringing the player back into the squad as soon as possible. Wubben-Moy will miss Monday’s UEFA Women’s EURO Group A match against Norway at the Amex Stadium in Brighton while she faces a race against time to be ready for the Northern Ireland game in Southampton next Friday.

Wubben-Moy is the third England player to test positive for COVID-19 this summer. Alex Greenwood and Ellen White have also had the virus with the pair testing positive in the lead up to the tournament.

England got their UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 campaign underway on Wednesday in front of a tournament best crowd of 68,871 at Old Trafford. The Lionesses defeated Austria 1-0 thanks to a first half goal from Beth Mead. Victory over Norway in Brighton on Monday will all-but-secure Sarina Wiegman’s side’s place in the quarter-finals. It promises to be another special night on the South Coast with the game having been sold out for months.
