Lewes captain Cleverly pens new deal

Lewes captain Rhian Cleverly has signed a new deal with the club for the upcoming season.

The 27-year-old defender has spent the last three seasons with The Rookettes and she will now look forward to her fourth year at The Dripping Pan.

Cleverly has made 41 appearances for Lewes in the Barclays Women’s Championship in her three seasons with the club. She has established herself as a fans’ favourite and is a strong leader of the side.

After signing her contract extension, the defender said “New coach, new pitch, new hips, I couldn’t be more excited to sign for my fourth season at Lewes FC!

“The development of this club in the last three seasons has been unbelievable and something I’m proud to continue to be a part of. With the addition of Scott’s (Booth) experience I can’t wait to see how we improve as a squad and what we can achieve.

“Last season’s win against Liverpool shows our potential and we’ll be working hard to make sure the fans get more special moments like that this season. The club and community is extremely special to me and a place that feels like home.

“Whilst my focus will be on football, I am very grateful to also be starting a new role at the club as Player Lifestyle and Liason Officer. I’m determined to make sure this role not only supports myself but my teammates on and off the field too.”

Cleverly joins a lengthy list of Lewes players to have signed a new contract with the club this summer.
