Durham defender Salicki signs new deal

Durham defender Becky Salicki has signed a new contract with the club according to reports on The Wildcats’ official website.

The 29-year-old versatile defender has spent the last six years with Durham. Salicki has become a key member of manager Lee Sanders’ squad.

Salicki has made almost 100 appearances for Durham in the Barclays Women’s Championship while this season could see the player reach the 150-appearance milestone if she remains fit and in form. The defender’s experience is both a major positive for the team and for the young players on the club’s books.

After signing her new deal with Durham, Salicki said “I’m buzzing. To be given the opportunity to go full-time, I’ve grabbed it with both hands. It’s unbelievable and something I’ve dreamed of since I was a kid. To do it with Durham is a dream really. This club is in me, it’s in my blood and I’m fully committed to everything I do here and I will be for as long as I’m needed.

“The first few weeks of pre-season have been really, really good and the atmosphere in camp is excellent. The girls that have joined us have been really good and it’s a really competitive atmosphere where we’re all pushing each other on.”

Salicki becomes the fifth Durham player to sign a contract extension with the club this summer.
