Former Everton defender Pattinson joins Brighton & Hove Albion

Former Everton full-back Poppy Pattinson has completed a move to Brighton & Hove Albion according to reports on The Seagulls’ official club website.

The 22-year-old left-sided defender left her former club at the end of last season and she therefore joins Brighton & Hove Albion on a free transfer. Pattinson has signed a two-year deal with The Seagulls.

Pattinson has spent the last two seasons with Everton in which she has made 29 Barclays Women’s Super League appearances. The former England youth international defender is rated very highly and the player is still at an age where she can make a huge impact on the game with the right level of coaching and development.

After completing her move to Brighton & Hove Albion, Pattinson said “I am really pleased to be here, excited to get going and delighted to finally get the pen on the dotted line.

“From the first conversation with Hope (Powell), I knew it was the right place to be. I think she sees the potential I have and that matches my own ambitions.

“The club has big aims and I want to help them achieve them.”

Pattinson is Brighton & Hove Albion manager Hope Powell’s first summer signing and she will not be the last. The Seagulls have lost a number of players over the summer therefore reinforcements will be brought in.
