Durham defender Ellie Christon has signed a new deal with the club for the upcoming season according to reports on The Wildcats’ official club website.
The 28-year-old has been with Durham throughout their time in the Barclays Women’s Championship. She has made 171 appearances for the North East side in all competitions. Christon has remained an integral part of the Durham side throughout her time with the club. She has grown as an individual player alongside the development of the team.
After signing on again with The Wildcats, Christon said “I’m thrilled and so excited. It’s a great time to be part of the club and the progress we’ve made on and off the pitch since 2014 is amazing. I’m so grateful to be part of the journey.
“I’ve wanted to be full-time since I started football, and now it’s possible it’s class to be doing it with Durham. It’s amazing to not only be a full-time footballer but to do it with my local club in the North East.”
Christon becomes the sixth Durham player to sign a new deal with the club this summer. She joins Sarah Robson, Sarah Wilson, Mollie Lambert, Lauren Briggs and Becky Salicki in signing on again with Lee Sanders’ side.
