Highly-rated winger Henson joins Charlton Athletic

Charlton Athletic have completed the signing of highly-rated teenage winger Corinne Henson according to reports on The Addicks’ official club website.

The 18-year-old midfielder joins The Addicks following a spell with former Barclays Women’s Championship club Watford. The player has moved to The Oakwood on a free transfer.

Henson featured in all 22 Barclays Women’s Championship matches for The Golden Girls last season, she was the only player in the entire squad to achieve that feat. Sadly, Henson was unable to help the Hertfordshire club to avoid relegation back to the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division. The winger was with Watford on a dual-registration arrangement with Henson having also been on the books of Arsenal where she spent her youth.

After completing her move to Charlton Athletic, Henson said “I am absolutely delighted to be here and I am grateful for the opportunity.

“Charlton fans can expect to see versatility from me – being able to play anywhere along the flank. I want to contribute defensively but also attacking-wise and I believe I bring a lot of technical ability too.”

Henson is Charlton Athletic head coach Karen Hills’ fourth signing of the summer transfer window. She joins Angela Addison, Freda Ayisi and Sian Rogers in making the move to South East London this summer.
