Former Chelsea forward Tegan McGowan has joined Barclays Women’s Championship club Charlton Athletic.
The Addicks announced the news via a post on their official club website this afternoon. The 17-year-old joins Charlton Athletic on a free transfer after leaving former club Chelsea this summer. McGowan has signed a two-year deal at The Oakwood.
McGowan came through the academy system at former club Chelsea. She was a regular for the club’s WSL Academy League side but never made an appearance for The Blues at senior level. McGowan was given 15 outings by Chelsea in last season’s WSL Academy League in which she netted four goals.
After completing her move to Charlton Athletic, McGowan said “I am excited to get started, to meet the girls and be in the squad this season.
“I am a versatile player that can play on the left or the right side of the pitch. I’m primarily a striker who can play with both feet so you will hopefully see goals and assists from me.
“The game is a lot quicker compared to where I have come from but I am keen to learn from other players and from my own experiences.”
McGowan is Charlton Athletic head coach Karen Hills’ seventh signing of the summer transfer window.
