Manchester United defender Tara Bourne has joined Barclays Women’s Championship club Birmingham City on a season-long loan deal.
FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from Birmingham City this evening.
Bourne has come through the Manchester United youth ranks and she made her senior debut for the club in a Vitality Women’s FA Cup tie at third tier side Burnley in 2020/2021. The highly-rated defender spent last season out on loan gaining first team playing experience. She represented both Sheffield United and Blackburn Rovers in the second tier. The player will again test herself in the Barclays Women’s Championship this season with Birmingham City.
After joining the Blues, Bourne said “It feels really good. I’ve had a few sessions with the girls, and it is great group. I can’t wait to get started.
“I really wanted to be at a team that was pushing for promotion and that was competing, so I’m really excited to be here.”
Bourne is the latest of a string of impressive new signings at Birmingham City this summer. Head coach Darren Carter has also added Siobhan Wilson, Martha Harris, Mollie Green and Lucy Thomas to his squad so far in the summer transfer window.
