Arsenal have completed the signing of American goalkeeper Kaylan Marckese from Danish club HB Køge.
FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from the North Londoners this evening.
Marckese joins The Gunners on the back of a two-year spell with former club HB Køge. The keeper featured in both games against Arsenal in last season’s UEFA Women’s Champions League, conceding eight goals as The Gunners made easy work of the group stage minnows. Despite being on the losing side in those games, Marckese’s potential has clearly been spotted by Arsenal head coach Jonas Eidevall who has moved to secure the player’s services.
In her time at the LV Bet Stadium, Marckese will compete with The Gunners’ first-choice keeper Manuela Zinsberger for the number one jersey.
After joining Arsenal, Marckese said “I don’t think it’s really settled in yet, but it’s like a dream come true. (Arsenal) want me to wear the crest, play on that pitch every day, walk into this facility every day with that badge and to represent the club….that just raises it to a whole other level of it just being an absolute privilege to be in North London.”
Marckese has become Arsenal’s first signing of the summer transfer window.
