Manchester United have completed the signing of Spanish international forward Lucía García on a two-year deal.
FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news this afternoon via an official club press release from The Red Devils.
The 24-year-old attacker moves to the Leigh Sports Village after spending the last six years at Spanish top flight club Athletic Bilbao. García netted an impressive 63 goals in 161 appearances for The Lionesses in all competitions. García will now test herself in the English league after joining Marc Skinner’s Manchester United.
After sealing her move to the Leigh Sports Village, García said “The fact that a club the size of Manchester United has put their faith in me is a dream come true. I already feel very much at home here. There’s a great family atmosphere at the club, which is the exact environment in which I thrive.
“I will give everything I have on the field to make our fans proud, and hopefully score a few goals as well!”
García has been representing the Spanish national team at this summer’s UEFA Women’s EURO. Spain were eliminated at the quarter-final stage by England and García will now spend a short period resting before linking-up with her new club teammates ahead of the new Barclays Women’s Super League season.
