Former Manchester United defender Turner joins Spurs

Former Manchester United defender Amy Turner has joined Tottenham Hotspur on a two-year deal with the option of a further year.

The Lilywhites announced the news this morning via a post on their official club website. Turner joins Spurs following a spell playing in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) with Orlando Pride.

Sheffield-born Turner has a wealth of experience in the English game. After starting out with Doncaster Rovers Belles, she enjoyed spells with Leeds United, Sheffield FC, Notts County and Liverpool before joining Manchester United ahead of their first season of elite football in 2018/2019. Turner was a member of a United side which won the Barclays Women’s Championship title that season along with promotion to the top flight. Turner remained an integral part of the United team in the two seasons which followed before moving Stateside last summer.

After securing Turner’s services for Spurs, head coach Rehanne Skinner said “We are delighted to welcome Amy to the Club. She adds further strength and depth to our backline and brings a wealth of experience from years spent both here and in the NWSL. Amy is a leader on and off the pitch and will be an asset to us.”

Turner has become the fourth new signing at Spurs this summer.
