Liverpool forward Ashley Hodson has joined Barclays Women’s Championship club Birmingham City on a season-long loan deal.
FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the move via an official club press release from the Blues this afternoon.
Hodson has a wealth of experience in the elite game after spending the last eight years as a senior player at Liverpool. The attacker was on the club’s books in her youth and successfully established herself in The Reds’ first team. Hodson has gone on to make more than 100 appearances for the Merseyside club in all competitions. She was a Barclays Women’s Super League title-winner with Liverpool back in 2014.
The forward made 13 league appearances and scored two goals for Liverpool last season as the club won the Barclays Women’s Championship title along with promotion back to the Barclays Women’s Super League. She will now be hoping to repeat that feat in the upcoming season with loan club Birmingham City.
Hodson becomes Birmingham City head coach Darren Carter’s seventh signing of the summer transfer window. The Blues boss looks to be building a special group of players who seem capable of mounting an immediate push for promotion back to the Barclays Women’s Super League this season.
