Manchester United midfielder Lucy Staniforth has signed a new one-year contract with the club.
FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news this afternoon via an official club press release from Manchester United. The announcement comes as no surprise with rumours of Staniforth’s new deal having been circling in the past few days.
Staniforth has spent the last two seasons with Manchester United after joining the club from Birmingham City in summer 2020. The midfielder has made 26 Barclays Women’s Super League appearances for The Red Devils in which she has scored two goals. Staniforth has a wealth of top flight experience after featuring for several clubs in her career to date including Liverpool, Sunderland and latest club Manchester United.
After signing on again at The Leigh Sports Village, Staniforth said “I’m really grateful to be given this opportunity and want to make sure I hit the ground running this season and contribute as much as I can. I feel great in myself and I’m really looking forward to the new campaign.”
Staniforth has become the third Manchester United player to sign a new deal with the club this summer. The midfielder follows Ivana Fuso and Katie Zelem in signing on again with The Red Devils.
