Everton sign former Arsenal defender Veje on two-year deal

Everton have completed the signing of former Arsenal defender Katrine Veje on a two-year deal.

FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the transfer via an official club press release from Everton this afternoon.

Veje made eight league appearances for The Gunners in the second half of the 2018/2019 season as the club won the Barclays Women’s Super League title, however, injury disrupted her second season with the North Londoners.

On the international stage, Veje has 140 senior international caps for the Danish national team. She represented her country at this summer’s UEFA Women’s EURO.

After completing her move to Everton, Veje said “I’m so happy to be at Everton. It’s a big club and it feels good to be back in the league.

“I always had a dream to come back to the league – Everton are such a big club as well – so it’s a dream come true.”

Veje becomes the third Danish international to join The Blue Girls in the current transfer window. New Everton boss Brian Sørensen has also brought in twins Sara and Karen Holmgaard, the former has initially joined Danish club Fortuna Hjørring on loan. Sørensen has now completed seven close season signings in total since taking up his role at Walton Hall Park earlier this summer.
