Coventry United goalkeeper Jodie Whiteman has agreed to remain with the club for the upcoming season.
The teenager signed a first professional deal with The Red and Greens last summer and she will remain with the club on a part-time basis in 2022/2023.
Whiteman played the role of understudy to former Coventry United goalkeeper Sue Wood in the early days of her senior career before going out on loan to Solihull Moors to gain some first team playing experience.
The youngster made her only senior Coventry United appearance to date in the club’s 5-2 defeat at Durham in an FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup group match in October 2020. She has been named as an unused substitute on several occasions. Whiteman now faces a battle with fellow Coventry United youngster Mia Smith for the number one goalkeeping jersey this season but she does have a great chance of getting some minutes under her belt.
Coventry United head coach Lee Burch now has seven players contracted to the club for the upcoming campaign. Whiteman joins Katy Morris, Anna Wilcox and Freya Thomas in signing on again for the new season while Coventry United boss Burch has also brought in Cara Milne-Redhead, Smith and Merrick Will.
