Barcelona announce transfer agreement with Arsenal for Gio Queiroz

Barcelona have confirmed that they have come to an agreement with Arsenal over the transfer of attacker Gio Queiroz.

The Catalan club announced the news via a short update on their official club website this morning.

Brazilian international Gio had been linked with a move to Arsenal earlier this week with reports also indicating that the player could then be loaned to the club’s Barclays Women’s Super League rivals Everton. A deal looks to have now been agreed, although an announcement from the Arsenal camp may have been delayed as a result of the passing of Queen Elizabeth II yesterday. Further details are likely to be revealed in the coming days.

Gio spent her youth in the academy systems of Atlético Madrid and Madrid CFF. She made her senior debut for the latter at just 15 years of age. In 2020, Gio joined Spanish giants FC Barcelona but she has found opportunities to impress in the first team hard to come by.

In the 2021/2022 season, Gio enjoyed a productive spell on loan at Levante. She netted seven goals in 26 appearances for the club in the Spanish Primera Iberdrola.

Gio will be very much seen as one for the future at Arsenal but she is a player with huge potential and one which will excite the club’s fans.
