Tickets for Durham’s Conti Cup tie against Manchester United sell out in less than a week

Tickets for Durham’s FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup tie against Manchester United have sold out in less than a week.

The two clubs meet in the group stage of the competition under the floodlights at Maiden Castle on Wednesday 26 October with the match set to kick-off at 7pm.

A final date for the match was agreed last Wednesday with tickets going on-sale the following day. Durham reported towards the end of last week that more than 50% of tickets had been sold and a further surge in demand has resulted in all tickets being snapped up in just a four-day period.

The sell-out is Durham’s second of the new campaign with their opening match of the 2022/2023 Barclays Women’s Championship season against Sunderland having attracted a record crowd of 1,668 to Maiden Castle. The club have long-term ambitions of reaching the Barclays Women’s Super League and they are receiving some excellent backing in the stands on a regular basis as they continue to chase that big dream.

Durham took on Manchester United in last season’s FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup group stage. That game was also sold out and was an absolute thriller. Ivana Fuso fired Manchester United into a first half lead before Durham equalised through Dee Bradley early in the second period. Ella Toone’s rocket then made it 2-1 to the visitors before Beth Hepple netted an equally as special goal to force penalties. Manchester United won the match 5-3 on spot kicks.

This season’s FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup kicks-off on the weekend of 1/2 October.
