Brighton will look to make life difficult for Arsenal says Powell ahead of opening game

Brighton & Hove Albion manager Hope Powell says that her side will look to make life as difficult as possible for opponents Arsenal when the two clubs contest their first game of the season.

The Seagulls travel to Boreham Wood to take on The Gunners in their season opener at a sold out LV Bet Stadium tomorrow night.

When speaking in the pre-match press conference, Brighton & Hove Albion boss Powell said that her side are ready to give their opponents a tough ride.

“It’s a sell-out which will be good for the women’s game and good for us,” Powell said.

“The expectation will be for Arsenal to win the game, we are under no illusions there but we are not going to give it to them, we are going to make it very difficult for them. The plan is to get something out of the game as we do every game.”

It has been more than four months since Brighton & Hove Albion last played a competitive game and Powell said that the players are raring to go.

She said “The league is new to some of them, certainly Elisabeth (Terland) and some of the new ones but they all say that they are looking forward to it.

“The summer has been quite long given the EUROs so I think they are ready to play in games now. They are excited by the prospect.”

Brighton & Hove Albion’s opening match of the 2022/2023 Barclays Women’s Super League season against Arsenal kicks-off at 7.30pm tomorrow night.
