Coventry United have completed the signing of young forward Ellie Butler.
The Red and Greens announced the transfer earlier today via a post on their official club Twitter account.
Butler moves to the Butts Park Arena after most recently turning out for FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division club Wolverhampton Wanderers. The youngster was a regular for Wolves last season as the club won the FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division title before going down 1-0 to Southampton in the Championship Play-off Final. Butler made 19 appearances in black and gold while she scored two goals.
In her youth, Butler was on the books of Bristol City before joining Tottenham Hotspur. She never made a senior appearance for either club and the forward’s move to Coventry United will therefore see her play elite level football for the very first time.
Coventry United travel to Sheffield United this weekend to contest their third Barclays Women’s Championship fixture of the season. Lee Burch’s newly-assembled side have lost both of their opening two matches without scoring a goal. Despite a difficult start, The Red and Greens do look to be gelling quite nicely and the Warwickshire club will be hopeful of getting some points on the board very soon.
