Aston Villa winger Gregory pens new long term deal

Aston Villa teenager Freya Gregory has signed a new long term contract with the club until summer 2025.

FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news this morning via an official club press release from The Villans.

The 19-year-old joined Aston Villa from Second City rivals Birmingham City in summer 2020 and the player has gone on to make 13 appearances for the club at Barclays Women’s Super League level. Her only league goal for Aston Villa so far came in a 1-1 Second City derby draw at Birmingham City in April 2021.

Gregory spent the second half of last season getting a run of games under her belt in a loan spell at Leicester City but she is back with her parent club for 2022/2023 and she is ready to make her mark.

After agreeing fresh terms with Gregory, Aston Villa boss Carla Ward said “Freya is somebody we value highly.

“She’s a young player with huge potential and I believe she can add real value in what we are trying to do.

“She has wonderful technical ability and a mature head on her shoulders; we’re delighted to keep her with us for the next three years.”

Gregory made her first appearance of the season from the bench as Aston Villa defeated Manchester City 4-3 at Villa Park last weekend. The player will hope to be involved again on Sunday when The Villans travel to Leicester City.
