Chelsea’s teenage winger Reanna Blades has signed her first professional terms with the club.
The South West Londoners announced the news this morning via an update on their official club website.
The 18-year-old has signed an initial two-year deal at Kingsmeadow while Chelsea hold the option to extend the arrangement by a further year.
Blades is a product of the Chelsea academy system. She is yet to make her senior debut for the club, although the player has been involved with the first team, particularly in their pre-season programmes when squad numbers have been short due to international commitments.
On the international stage, Blades has represented England up to and including Under-19 level.
After signing her first professional contract with The Blues, Blades said “It’s a dream come true to sign my first professional contract at this club. I am honoured to continue my journey at Chelsea and I’m excited for the future.
“I am appreciative of my family and coaches for helping me build both on and off the pitch, this is where the hard work begins!”
With Blades short on senior playing experience, it seems likely that the player could be loaned out at some point with the Barclays Women’s Championship a possible destination. Chelsea have a history of using this development route for their young players.
