Brighton & Hove Albion manager Hope Powell says that her side will need to show their fighting spirit as they look to defy the odds and get a result against Manchester United this weekend.
The Seagulls travel to the Leigh Sports Village on Sunday. The venue is always a difficult place for opposition sides to go and play their football.
When speaking in the pre-match press conference, Brighton & Hove Albion boss Powell acknowledged that the game will be tough and that her side will need to fight in the North West
“They’re a very good side,” Powell said. “They were a very good side last season.
“They’ve got more depth this season including one of our own in Maya Le Tissier who has gone there who we know very well.
“We expect it to be tough, they’re a team full of international players with good technicians. We know what we are up against but we’ve got some fighting spirit and it is for us to go and try and upset them and get something out of the game.”
Powell is expecting a good crowd at the Leigh Sports Village this weekend, although her side’s performance is the most important thing.
She said “I’m sure that there will be a good crowd at the Leigh Sports Village, they have got a large fanbase and we also get a few fans that travel to support us.
“Hopefully, it’ll be a good game, it’s exciting and everybody enjoys it. More importantly, we need to try and get something out of it.”
Brighton & Hove Albion’s latest Barclays Women’s Super League fixture at Manchester United kicks-off at 12pm on Sunday afternoon.
