Aston Villa teenager Olivia McLoughlin has signed her first professional contract with the club.
The Villans announced the news via an update on their official club website earlier today.
McLoughlin joined Aston Villa from the club’s Second City rivals Birmingham City back in summer 2020. The defensive player went on to break into the Aston Villa side towards the end of the 2020/2021 season. McLoughlin now has 21 Barclays Women’s Super League appearances to her name and she is very much seen as an important player for the future for The Villans.
After securing the services of McLoughlin on a professional basis, Aston Villa head coach Carla Ward said “This is a really important one for us as we see Liv as part of our long-term vision.”
“She is a player that can compete at this level now while also having the potential to further her development.”
“Liv is a popular figure in the changing room, a positive character and a willing learner. We’re delighted she’s committed her future to Aston Villa.”
McLoughlin has found herself regularly named amongst the Aston Villa substitutes this season. She will hope to again be involved for The Villans when they host Everton in their next Barclays Women’s Super League fixture on Saturday.
