Brighton & Hove Albion manager Hope Powell says that her side need to show plenty of passion and desire if they are to cause an upset against Chelsea at Broadfield Stadium this evening.
The Seagulls have taken something from The Blues in each of the last three seasons but they will come up against a Chelsea side who are in good form in Crawley this evening.
When speaking ahead of the match, Powell demanded passion and desire from her players, similar to what they showed in the second half against Manchester United last weekend.
“We recognise the ability of Chelsea, the depth and the quality that they have,” Powell said. “I think we just have to take care of ourselves, we know it is going to be tough but we just have to be prepared for that fight.
“I’m hoping that we carry forward that passion and desire that we showed in the second half against Manchester United last weekend.”
Brighton & Hove Albion have been something of a bogey team for Chelsea in recent seasons but Powell wants to focus on the here and now.
She said “That was before (the good results against Chelsea) but we have got to deal with what is ahead of us. It is great and we hold that to say that we have had very spirited performances but that was before, we have to execute in the latest game and be up to the task.”
