Crystal Palace forward Molly-Mae Sharpe was pleased to see her side end their winless run against Durham at Maiden Castle this afternoon.
The Eagles went into the game having lost their last three matches in all competitions but Anna Filbey’s first half thunderbolt helped the South Londoners to record a narrow 1-0 victory.
When speaking to FAWSL Full-Time after the match, Sharpe said that getting a win was hugely important.
“We knew what we were coming into, it is always difficult to come here and play Durham, they are a really tough side,” Sharpe said. “They had a great night on Wednesday against Manchester United, we were aware of that, but we just wanted to come and give it everything today.
“I think we ground it out and after our past couple of results, we needed a win so it was really important for us.”
After returning to winning ways, Sharpe wants Crystal Palace to draw a line under recent poor form and focus on future performances.
She said “It is about letting go of the negatives, you’ve got to move on as quickly as possible. We have to just look to next week and then try to get another three points and keep on moving up the table if we can.”
Crystal Palace return to home soil next Sunday when Sheffield United are the visitors to Hayes Lane in the Barclays Women’s Championship.
