Aston Villa lose forward Boye-Hlorkah to ACL injury

Aston Villa forward Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah is set to spend several months on the sidelines after sustaining an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury.

The Villans revealed the news via an update on their official club website this afternoon.

Boye-Hlorkah’s injury is another blow for Aston Villa who already have forwards Simone Magill and Emily Gielnik sidelined with long term injuries. The Villans are now even lighter in the attacking areas.

Last week saw Boye-Hlorkah go up against former club Everton in the group stage of the FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup. The player featured for the first 59 minutes of the match at Walton Hall Park before leaving the field after rupturing her ACL. Boye-Hlorkah is now set to begin her rehabilitation but she will not be seen in an Aston Villa shirt again this season.

Aston Villa signed Boye-Hlorkah from their Barclays Women’s Super League rivals Everton in summer 2021. The player went on to make 22 appearances for The Villans in all competitions in her first season with the club. The forward had made three appearances for Aston Villa this season before suffering her injury blow.

Aston Villa continue the 2022/2023 campaign without Boye-Hlorkah on Sunday when they travel to Liverpool in the Barclays Women’s Super League.
